China and Brazil develop cultural and tourism exchanges

China and Brazil have been strengthening cultural exchanges by signing agreements and holding tourism development activities that allow the two peoples to better understand each other.

According to Joao Batista do Nascimento Magallaes, an official at the South American country's diplomatic mission in China, despite the great geographical, cultural and historical distance separating the two nations, they have similar tastes and behaviours.

This makes possible the existence of a great friendship between the two sides, which is growing stronger ahead of next year's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The diplomat sees the date as an opportunity to further strengthen ties. He praised the signing of cooperation agreements on tourism development between Brazil and the city of Jiayuguan, located in the northwest of the Asian giant.

On this occasion, Wang Rongkai, director of Jiayuguan's publicity department, talked about its historical and cultural heritage. The city has 52 tourist attractions making it famous in the country.

The event also offered the opportunity to taste typical Brazilian and Chinese cuisine, particularly from the northern part of the PRC.

Qiao Jie, vice president of the Chinese Culinary Association, said the South American country and Jiayuguan represent two different styles of barbecue cooking, both interesting and with a great historical background.

The city of Jiayuguan, located on the ancient Silk Road, attracts attention primarily because of the last section of the Great Wall of China, the world's largest underground gallery and the fact that it is part of the Gobi Desert.

According to specialised websites, about 800 thousand tourists visit the city every year, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
