Premiere of ballet Swan Lake at Harbin Grand Theatre marks opening of music festival in China
The organisers invite audiences to explore the city and its events alongside the performances and concerts
The Harbin Summer Music Festival will take place in northeastern China from June to September. This was reported by Dongbeiwang, a partner of TV BRICS.
The first event of the season was the premiere of the classical ballet Swan Lake in a new production by the Harbin Ballet Troupe. The performance took place on the stage of the Harbin Grand Theatre.
The festival’s slogan is "Travel in the footsteps of the performance". The musical season will bring together over 100 events across three main themes, shaping a new trend in cultural tourism.
The "Graceful Rhythms of the Summer Capital" programme includes concerts of Chinese classical music, the Eurasian Symphony Forum, Sino-Russian cultural and artistic exchange programmes, dance, and musical theatre festivals, as well as exhibitions of young talent and chamber concerts.
The "Myriad Talents" popular culture programme will bring together a city music carnival, choral and vocal competitions, school concerts, performances by rural ensembles, open-air symphony concerts, and national dance festivals.
The "Musical Summer Journey" programme, which integrates art and tourism, will feature a youth street culture week, Sino-Russian performances at the historic Yellow House, open-air charity concerts, and performances by popular artists.
Harbin, known as the World City of Music, successfully hosted the 37th Harbin Summer Festival last year. The event takes place every two years.
