Chinese authorities to optimise payment system for tourists
The Chinese authorities are working on modernising the mobile payment system to facilitate the payment process for foreign tourists. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
The minister noted the payment difficulties faced by those travelling to the country. Cashless payment via smartphones dominates in commercial establishments ranging from hotels to grocery shops.
"We are optimizing each step of the inbound tourism process, streamlining procedures ranging from visa applications to flight arrangements, hotel check-ins, shopping and sightseeing," said Sun Yeli at the end of the 2nd session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing.
Chinese payment platform companies are working together to simplify the registration process of visiting foreign tourists in local payment applications, and all consumer service outlets are mandatorily accepting Chinese cash currency, the minister added.
