Ethiopian Prime Minister states that country to exceed its economic growth target in 2025
According to him, this is facilitated by macroeconomic reforms
Ethiopia will significantly exceed the projected economic growth of 8.4 per cent for the current financial year. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, according to ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to him, thanks to macroeconomic reforms and the "Homegrown Reform" programme, Ethiopia is demonstrating sustainable growth even against the backdrop of global challenges. He explained this by the development of key sectors: agriculture, industry, mining, services, and finance.
Abiy Ahmed specified that agricultural growth amounted to 6.1 per cent, while industry expects a 12.8 per cent increase in production. Gold exports have grown significantly, from 4 tonnes last year to 37 tonnes, which has increased revenues from US$300 million to US$3.5 billion.
Tourism and services are also showing positive dynamics – 1.3 million tourists visited the country, and over 150 international conferences were held. The financial sector is also showing significant growth: the volume of loans increased by 75 per cent, and the number of mobile banking users reached 55 million people.
In addition, the Ethiopian Prime Minister said that exports exceeded US$8.1 billion, which is more than double last year's figures.
