India participates in development of global 6G standards for first time

The BRICS countries are actively expanding 5G networks and advancing research projects focused on next-generation communication technologies, including 6G.

Chinese scientists have developed a communication system combining fibre optics and wireless networks, setting a new world record for data transfer speeds. According to TV BRICS partner China Daily, the development represents an important step for artificial intelligence data centres and the evolution of 6G networks, which require ultra-high speeds and low latency. The system’s bandwidth exceeds that of 5G by more than ten times.

In Brazil, the rollout of 5G networks is progressing ahead of schedule. According to the government’s website, National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), part of the Ministry of Communications, 64.94 per cent of Brazil's population has access to 5G networks, covering 2019 cities across the country. This figure significantly surpasses the initial target of 57.67 per cent for 2027.

By 2030, the Indonesian government plans to increase 5G network coverage to 32 per cent. According to ANTARA, to accelerate this process, the authorities are calling on telecommunications market participants to strengthen cooperation in order to improve 5G network coverage throughout the country. Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Director General of the Digital Infrastructure Agency, stressed that the government is focused on three key areas: radio frequency spectrum, infrastructure development, and the regulatory framework.
