India's first railway test track for high-speed trials to be operational in 2025
The new track will be 60 kilometres long
India's first specialised test railway track in the state of Rajasthan is under construction and is expected to be completed in December 2025. This is reported by IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.
The new track will be 60 kilometres long and will enable advanced rolling stock testing, including high-speed tests for high-speed trains. Once operational, the track will be able to reach speeds of up to 230 kilometres per hour, a major step for high-speed testing in the country.
Apart from testing high-speed trains, the track will also be used to evaluate the performance of semi-trains, high-speed trains and metro trains.
The project includes multiple curve sections that are designed to test train performance at various speeds, providing a realistic assessment of their behaviour on sharp bends without reducing speed.
Engineering solutions for the project include the use of reinforced concrete and steel bridges that can withstand the high-speed vibrations of modern trains.
