Iran localises production of medical and industrial equipment
This has reduced the need for imports
Iranian scientists and engineers have made significant progress in localising the production of high-tech equipment. The country has started production of laparoscopic complexes, medical equipment, as well as industrial and construction equipment, according to Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.
The news agency reports that an Iranian science and technology company in Isfahan has set up production of laparoscopic equipment, thus reducing the need for imports. The device, which includes a video system, telescope, gas insufflator and cold light source, is already being used by leading surgeons in Isfahan, Tehran, and Shiraz.
Another company has developed medical equipment for diagnosis and research in neurosciences, including electrocardiography (ECG), electroencephalography (EEG) and neuromuscular electromyography (EMG) suites. It is noted that these products not only fulfil the needs of hospitals but also open new opportunities for scientific research in Iran.
In the field of industry and construction, the production of slurry pumps and crushing plants has been localised. The country now produces equipment for the mining industry independently, which reduces dependence on foreign suppliers.
In addition, Iran's largest metallurgical plant has localised the production of more than 1.7 thousand industrial components. The agency emphasises that this step strengthens the country's economy, increasing the competitiveness of Iranian products.
