Modern farming technology boosts productivity by up to 50% in Indonesia
The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture reported that the use of modern farming machinery and digital tools has increased agricultural productivity by 30–50 per cent, underscoring their potential to transform the sector and strengthen national food resilience. This is reported by Antara News.
According to Harsono, a Supervisor of agricultural machinery and equipment, technological upgrades – from advanced planting equipment to digital monitoring – can significantly improve efficiency, crop quality, and market access, while lowering production costs and labor demands.
He stated that collaboration between all stakeholders is essential to optimising yields for rice, corn, and horticultural products, and to improving farmers’ livelihoods.
Experts also emphasise that local startups play a crucial role in accelerating agricultural innovation by bringing agility minimal bureaucracy and targeted solutions to address long-standing gaps in technology development.
