Russia and China present joint project on financial cooperation among BRICS countries

Experts from Russia, China and other countries discussed how the introduction of the BRICS payment system may affect the structure of trade between the BRICS members

TV BRICS International Media Network and its partner, China Global Television Network (CGTN), present a joint edition of the BIZtalk programme. It is dedicated to the XVI BRICS Summit held in Kazan in October and is timed to coincide with the cross-cultural years of Russia and China (2024-2025).

The programme is already available in English. The premiere in Russian will take place on 21 November at 20:30 Moscow time (repeated on 23 November at 13:00) on TV BRICS.

In the project, experts from China, Russia and other countries shared their views on financial cooperation among BRICS countries and discussed what key developments have taken place in this area in the year of Russia's chairmanship in the group in 2024. In addition, the participants talked about the prospects of creating a single currency.

According to Zhou Mi, a senior research fellow at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, the financial sphere is one of the most significant within BRICS.

"As for the trade, it is much more improved in the past several years, and we can find that the trade requires financial support. The financial corporations are first started from that aspect to support the trade and investment. And we can find some swam mechanisms between the countries and also some of the platforms to support the trade and investment," he said.

Last year, TV BRICS and CGTN launched a joint project timed to coincide with the third One Belt, One Road international cooperation forum. In it, invited experts assessed current trends in the global economy and the role of the Greater Eurasian Partnership (GEP) in this process. The programme is available on the Russian and English versions of the TV BRICS website.

TV BRICS broadcasts in Russian throughout Russia via digital TV operators, online services for watching TV channels, on-air TV channels, video hosting and social networks. In addition, the broadcast is available in foreign languages on the respective versions of the TV BRICS portal.
