Uganda and Iran to boost ICT co-operation

The two sides agreed on this at talks in Tehran

As part of diplomatic talks between Uganda and Iran in Tehran, the two sides outlined plans for ICT co-operation.

Uganda was represented by Ugandan Prime Minister Lukia Isanga Nakadama and Iran was represented by Iran's ICT Minister Issa Zarepour.

Iran's representative, ICT Minister Issa Zarepour, expressed readiness for co-operation, including assistance in expanding mobile phone technology. This is reported by the Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Zarepour, for his part, emphasised that Iranian technical and engineering companies have already implemented important infrastructure projects in African and non-African countries, adding that the country is ready to conduct similar ICT projects in Uganda.

The talks also discussed the Iranian delegation's plans for a visit to Uganda and the prospects for working together in the field of information and communication technology.

The two sides discussed supporting the promotion of telecommunication and communication technologies and carrying out necessary investigations to establish platforms for realising the digital economy.
