Venezuela aims to develop sovereign AI with China

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced that the country is working in partnership with China to develop a fully Venezuelan and sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) system. This was reported by teleSUR, a partner of TV BRICS.

Maduro emphasised that this AI should reflect the country’s unique history and characteristics, framing it as a technological project rooted in national identity and independence. He described the initiative as positive news for young people and stressed the importance of building technological solutions aligned with local values rather than external influences.

The president also highlighted that Venezuela’s collaboration with China marks a significant step toward creating an AI that represents the perspectives and needs of countries in the Global South. 

Maduro expressed confidence in the feasibility of this initiative and confirmed Venezuela’s commitment to pursuing technological independence through strategic partnerships, especially with allies such as China.
