Vietnam expands fruit exports with durian shipments to China
The initiative signals a transition towards a more transparent and digitalised agricultural framework
Vietnam’s fruit industry is strengthening its position in global markets, marked by the first durian shipment under a new green lane mechanism to China, reports VNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The latest developments reflect growing international demand and the country’s efforts to modernise agricultural exports through enhanced traceability and compliance with strict import standards.
The green lane model introduces full-chain traceability, enabling monitoring at every stage – from soil sampling and cultivation to harvesting, processing, phytosanitary inspection and certification of origin. The initiative signals a transition towards a more transparent and digitalised agricultural framework aligned with international requirements.
Vietnamese authorities expect fruit and vegetable exports to maintain strong growth in the second quarter of 2026, supported by new export protocols for frozen fruits and fresh coconuts. The sector is targeting total export revenues of US$10 billion this year.
Beyond durian and pomelo, Vietnam continues to diversify its fruit export portfolio. Banana shipments from the country’s southeastern regions are gaining traction in key markets such as the Middle East.
The expansion of export channels and adoption of advanced logistics and certification systems are positioning Vietnam’s fruit sector for sustained growth and deeper integration into global supply chains.
