SA COVID update august final

South Africans are seeing an easing in Covid 19 restrictions starting this week. This comes after pressure from business and a definite decline in the number of confirmed cases. South Africa has the world’s fifth highest number of infections.

Recently South Africans have seen a drop in new infections, though it is too early to say whether the country’s peak has passed. Currently they have close to 600 thousand confirmed cases with about 12-thousand deaths related to the pandemic.

This week, the country entered level 2 in lock down regulations. South Africans can now legally have a limited number of visitors at home and buy alcohol and cigarettes. The sale of liquor by licensed premises is however permitted from 9am to 5pm, from Mondays to Thursdays.
