China and India resume air services this month to support tourism and trade

China and India are set to resume direct passenger flights before the end of October, as reported by CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the decision follows the consensus reached between the leaders of both countries during their meeting in Tianjin on 31 August, signalling renewed momentum in diplomatic and economic engagement.

The resumption of flights is expected to facilitate travel, trade, tourism, and cultural exchange across the 2.8 billion-strong combined population of the two nations.

Officials emphasised that both sides are working to finalise an updated air service framework and simplify visa procedures for travellers, including those visiting for business, education, and media purposes.

Diplomatic sources underscored that Beijing and New Delhi are seeking to view bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, strengthening their partnership in a way that promotes stability, mutual development, and regional prosperity across Asia.

Experts consider the restoration of air traffic to be one of the most tangible results of the recent high-level talks between the foreign ministers of both countries.
