Brazil and Ethiopia sign Memorandum of Understanding to expand cooperation in field of tourism

The document will help increase the flow of investment into the economies of both countries

Brazil and Ethiopia have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting initiatives in the field of sustainable tourism. The document was signed by the Ethiopian Ambassador to Brazil, Liulseged Tadesse, and the Brazilian Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Costa Feliciano. This was reported by Fana Media Corporation, a partner of TV BRICS.

During the signing ceremony, Tadesse noted that the memorandum would help to further strengthen the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, as well as expand cooperation in the tourism sector at the bilateral level, within BRICS and at other international forums.

The agreement is expected to boost cooperation in promoting tourism initiatives in both countries, increase mutual tourist flows and create new opportunities for closer interaction between Ethiopian and Brazilian market participants.

In accordance with the provisions of the memorandum, the parties agreed to expand the exchange of information and expertise, strengthen institutional cooperation, promote investment in the tourism sector, and develop training and professional development programmes. During the talks, officials noted the significant tourism potential of Ethiopia and Brazil, emphasising the importance of closer cooperation.

The Ethiopian side pointed out that tourism is one of the priority areas in the country’s socio-economic policy. The authorities are taking steps to modernise the tourism sector and develop key tourist destinations. Brazil’s Minister of Tourism, Gustavo, in turn, expressed his country’s desire to seek new investment opportunities together with Ethiopia.
