A four-member team secures two silver medals, a bronze and an honourable mention at the global computer science competition in Tashkent
Iranian school students have won four international awards at the 2026 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), strengthening Iran’s presence among the leading countries in the global student computer science competition, as reported by Pars Today, a TV BRICS partner.
Iran’s four-member national team collected two silver medals, one bronze medal and one honourable mention during the 38th edition of the competition, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 9 to 16 August 2026.
The result places Iran among the countries whose students achieved multiple awards at one of the world's most prestigious competitions for secondary-school students in computer science.
The 2026 Olympiad brought together top young computer science talents from more than 97 countries, with 386 students registered for the event.
Iran entered the competition with four students, all competing against an international field in a series of demanding programming and algorithmic challenges designed to test problem-solving, computational thinking and advanced programming skills.
The team's medal haul – comprising two silver medals and a bronze – was accompanied by a diploma of honour, giving all four Iranian participants international recognition.
The International Olympiad in Informatics is one of the world's leading academic competitions for school students, bringing together high-performing young programmers to solve complex computational problems under strict time constraints.
