Kazakhstan seeks to develop investment projects within BRICS

Kazakhstan is interested in developing its partnership with BRICS and views the group as an open platform for pursuing its economic interests and promoting joint projects. This was stated by Zhumabek Sarabekov, Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation, in an exclusive interview with TV BRICS.
“Thanks to BRICS, the voice of developing countries in global politics and the economy has become louder. In general, the very idea behind the BRICS platform is to reform intergovernmental organisations. The long-standing idea of reforming the United Nations (UN) and other international organisations has gained further momentum thanks to BRICS. In addition, independent institutions have emerged within BRICS, such as the New Development Bank,” he noted.
Speaking about the upcoming Summit, the expert noted that India's chairmanship is characterised by a pragmatic approach. According to him, the main focus should be on developing concrete partnership formats and joint projects between participating countries.
Kazakhstan, for its part, sees BRICS as an opportunity for each participant to pursue its economic interests. “Kazakhstan's main interest is for BRICS to provide an opportunity to connect continents and build bridges while remaining an open platform – in other words, to promote investment and joint projects,” the expert said.
Sarabekov also highlighted the growing convergence of the economies and political systems of BRICS countries.
