China awards winners of Beijing International Children’s Film Festival

The event serves as a platform for strengthening cultural exchange and developing children’s and family cinema

The 6th Beijing International Children’s Film Festival has concluded in Beijing, bringing together young audiences, students from creative universities, and film industry professionals from various countries. The TV BRICS International Media Network acted as a partner of the event.

Director of the Film Festival Li Ge, in an exclusive comment to TV BRICS, emphasised that this year the festival presented the best films from around the world, giving audiences the opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of cultures.

“Cooperation with TV BRICS has opened up new horizons for international exchange and creative collaboration. The creation of a dedicated section for films from BRICS countries has further strengthened dialogue and interaction among participants, offering audiences around the world even more captivating and inspiring stories,” he said.

The festival jury included Egyptian Educator and Theatre Director Hossam Ali, Expert in Film and Media Management Li Wenjuan, Film Director, Screenwriter and Associate Dean Sun Chuanlin, Swiss Director and Producer Aida Schlaepfer Alhassani, as well as Stanislava Erokhina, Project Executive at the International Cooperation Department of TV BRICS.

In her speech, Erokhina spoke about the media network’s projects aimed at promoting national films, co-producing documentaries, and supporting creative programmes. Special attention was given to internships for young professionals in the film and theatre industries.

Following the results of the competition programme, the jury announced the winners. In the short film category, the best work was "Wild Child" by Chinese director Liu Yang. In the feature film category, the winner was "Qingtong & Kuihua" by Chinese director Chen Kunhou.

Two outstanding works were presented by TV BRICS in the BRICS Countries Competition: "The Boat No. 5" by Iranian director Reyhane Kavosh, provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), and the Brazilian film "O Urso do Farol" (The Lighthouse Bear), a joint project by young filmmakers Andressa Santos Oliveira, Hugo Tessaro Yaacov, and Tom Souza.

Participants of the film festival were offered an extensive educational programme, including masterclasses, lectures, and creative workshops, where experts from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America shared their experience in directing, acting, visual storytelling, and promoting films on international markets.
