The goal is to promote the region's high-quality development and openness to the world

China's western region has launched a special campaign to improve the quality of education, training more than 1.98 million university teachers in intensive open online courses (MOOC). This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The campaign has benefited 590 million students and aims to improve the level of education in China's less-developed western region.

Over the past 10 years, universities in the western region have accessed 207,000 sessions of MOOC and other online courses.

In the future, the campaign will focus on developing unique and modern specialities in universities in the western region, as well as using artificial intelligence to introduce new educational technologies.
