The six goals for China-Vietnam relations under new circumstances refer to stronger political mutual trust, more substantial security cooperation, deeper practical cooperation, more solid public support for bilateral relations, closer coordination and collaboration on multilateral issues, and better solutions for managing differences.
Earlier, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, said that Xi Jinping's visit would open a new era in bilateral relations. According to him, cooperation between the two nations has reached new heights, especially in trade and investment. He emphasised the importance of developing partnerships in diplomacy, security, culture, and education.
The visit to Vietnam marks the first leg of Xi Jinping’s Southeast Asia tour: from 15 to 18 April, he will also visit Malaysia and Cambodia.
