Ethiopia generates US$1.5 billion from gold exports in six months

Apart from gold, other sectors, including coffee, pulses, oilseeds, grains, spices, and cereals, soared

Ethiopia has achieved US$1.5 billion in revenue from gold exports during the first half of the current fiscal year. This is reported by Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS.

The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration reported this milestone, with Minister Kassahun Gofe highlighting the pivotal role of Ethiopia’s diverse topography and climate in supporting a range of valuable resources.

Kassahun emphasised the importance of optimising Ethiopia’s abundant natural resources to achieve sustained economic growth. Beyond gold, he also pointed to other sectors, including coffee, pulses, oilseeds, cereal crops, spices, and horticulture, as key contributors to the nation’s export potential.

One of Ethiopia’s primary economic goals is to leverage its natural wealth while expanding its presence in international markets, the source claims.
