Egypt’s agricultural exports surpass 5.8 million tonnes as citrus, potatoes and grapes lead record growth
Strong global demand and expanded market access drive Egypt’s agricultural export performance in 2026

Egypt’s agricultural exports have reached a historic milestone in 2026, with total shipments exceeding 5.8 million tonnes of agricultural products, as reported by Sada El-Balad, a TV BRICS partner.
The increase comes as Egypt continues to strengthen production efficiency, improve export control systems and expand access to new destinations by meeting strict international standards for quality, food safety and agricultural inspections.
Official export data showed that citrus fruits remained the top agricultural export category, with shipments exceeding 2.2 million tonnes. The strong performance confirmed citrus as Egypt’s leading exported crop, supported by continued demand from global markets.
Fresh potatoes ranked second among the country’s agricultural exports, with volumes surpassing 908,000 tonnes, while sweet potato exports reached around 218,000 tonnes, highlighting the diversity of Egypt’s export portfolio and its ability to supply different international markets.
Other key crops also contributed to the record export figures. Grape exports exceeded 147,000 tonnes, while fresh and dried bean shipments reached approximately 125,000 tonnes. Fresh onion exports surpassed 123,000 tonnes, further strengthening Egypt’s position in global agricultural trade.
The export list also included fresh strawberries with more than 39,000 tonnes, fresh garlic at around 34,000 tonnes and fresh tomatoes approaching 20,000 tonnes. Guava and pomegranate shipments also maintained a strong presence among Egypt’s important agricultural exports.
