Egypt launches its first domestically developed industrial robot
The proportion of locally sourced components has reached 80 per cent

Egypt has unveiled its first industrial robot developed domestically. This was reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, citing Egypt’s Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The proportion of locally sourced components currently stands at 80 per cent. In the near future, the plan is to increase this to 90 per cent – once the production of the motor has been localised.
Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, described the project as an important step towards strengthening Egypt’s manufacturing capacity and developing more efficient and competitive factories. He said the project had also demonstrated the ability of young Egyptian specialists to transform knowledge and innovation into industrial products.
It is noted that the ministry will develop mechanical engineering and production lines as part of the implementation of Egypt’s industrial strategy. The ministry will support initiatives aimed at strengthening the manufacturing sector and creating opportunities for young professionals, Hashem added.
Earlier, Egypt’s capital, Cairo, ranked 86th in the 2026 global ranking of the top 100 innovation clusters, compiled by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
