Domestic air passenger traffic in Brazil reaches record 68.3 million people
The figure also hits an all-time high in August

In Brazil, 68.3 million passengers used domestic flights during the first eight months of 2026. This set a new record and was 4 per cent higher than the figure for the same period last year, when 65.8 million passengers were recorded. This was reported by Metrópoles, a TV BRICS partner.
The most significant growth was recorded in August. During the month, 8.93 million people travelled on domestic flights – more than ever before. Compared with August 2025, passenger traffic increased by 2.3 per cent.
Passenger traffic on international flights also grew. From January to August, 20.3 million passengers were transported, which is 8 per cent more than during the same period a year earlier. In August alone, the number of international flight passengers reached 2.53 million.
From January to August, Brazil welcomed 6.45 million foreign tourists. In August, the country received 576,300 international visitors – a record figure for the month since statistics began being collected in 2009.
Overall, passenger traffic on domestic and international flights in Brazil totalled 88.7 million people during the first eight months of 2026. During the same period last year, the figure stood at 84.7 million, representing a 5 per cent increase.
