Indonesia and Chile strengthen cooperation in trade and strategic sectors
The two countries agreed to expand collaboration in key industries and advance implementation of their bilateral economic partnership agreement

Indonesia and Chile have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation during talks between Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and Chilean Foreign Minister Francisco Perez Mackenna in Jakarta. According to the Indonesian Foreign Minister, the discussions focused on expanding collaboration in strategic sectors, including critical minerals, science and technology, agriculture, and healthcare, as reported by ANTARA.
The ministers also underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation between the business communities of both countries to support the effective implementation of the Indonesia–Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IC-CEPA). They reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting solidarity among Global South countries and supporting a fair, inclusive and sustainable international order.
"The meeting builds on 60 years of Indonesia-Chile bilateral ties," Sugiono highlighted.
Under the IC-CEPA framework, 6,704 Indonesian products benefit from tariff-free access to the Chilean market. These include agricultural, fishery, manufacturing, mining and industrial goods. The partnership also covers cooperation in investment promotion, science and research, small and medium-sized enterprises, tourism, logistics, international transport, and information and communication technology.
Official data from Indonesia's Ministry of Trade show that bilateral trade reached US$535.51 million in 2025, representing an increase of 12.4 per cent compared with the previous year. Indonesian exports, particularly automotive products, fertilisers and footwear, have continued to strengthen their position in the Chilean market.
