Addis Ababa has ranked second globally and first in Africa for climate resilience, highlighting the Ethiopian capital’s growing role in sustainable urban development and environmental planning. This was reported by Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS.
The recognition follows a climate resilience index that assessed 72 major cities worldwide. The ranking placed Addis Ababa among the leading urban centres for climate resilience.
Mayor Adanech Abiebie welcomed the result, saying it reflects the capital’s progress in advancing sustainable urban development. She also highlighted Addis Ababa’s growing contribution to global efforts focused on environmentally conscious city planning.
According to the source, the capital’s top ranking on the continent places it among cities demonstrating strong progress in climate-resilient urban development.
The mayor congratulated Addis Ababa and its residents on the achievement, describing the recognition as an indication of the city’s continued development and its growing contribution to global sustainability efforts.
