Tunisia and Egypt intend to increase trade volumes and explore opportunities for joint investment

Representatives of the two countries have signed a memorandum that will form the basis for trilateral cooperation between countries of the Global South

Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ali Nafti met with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty in Cairo. The foreign ministers agreed to facilitate the implementation of agreements aimed at increasing bilateral trade between the two countries, facilitating the flow of domestic products in both directions, and exploring opportunities for joint investment. This was reported by Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), a partner of TV BRICS.

The two ministers commended the high level of strong and long-standing relations between Tunisia and Egypt, which have been further developed through the meetings of the Tunisian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee, chaired by the prime ministers of the two countries. According to the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the committee’s work has yielded significant results in various fields, particularly in the economic, trade, cultural and consular spheres.

The parties emphasised the need to develop technical cooperation between the relevant Tunisian and Egyptian agencies, particularly with African states.

Minister Nafti, together with his Egyptian counterpart, also presided over the signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding between the Tunisian Agency for Technical Cooperation and its Egyptian counterpart. The document aims to lay the foundations for trilateral cooperation between countries of the Global South, opening up new opportunities for the joint mobilisation of Tunisian and Egyptian experts and talent in support of Arab and African countries.
