Belarus and China increase stock exchange trading volumes
442 Chinese residents accredited by the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange
The total value of stock exchange transactions concluded by Chinese residents on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) in the first eight months of 2026 exceeded US$113 million, 20 per cent higher than in January–August 2025. The results of the cooperation were reported by BelTA, a TV BRICS partner.
It is noted that the main reason for the growth in the trading volume of Chinese participants was regular purchases of Belarusian goods, which accounted for 89 per cent of the total volume of Belarusian-Chinese stock exchange trade.
According to BUCE, in 2026, exchange exports to China increased by 29 per cent to US$101 million. By this measure, China ranked second, behind only the largest export market, Russia.
The most popular goods purchased by Chinese companies on the exchange included sawn timber, flax fibre, meat products, mink pelts and dry whey. Supplies of some products increased several-fold compared with January–August 2025. In particular, exports of flax fibre and flax tow increased 7.8-fold, whey exports rose 5.5-fold, while exports of meat and meat semi-finished products grew 2.2-fold.
The majority of imports from China (70 per cent in value terms) in January–August 2026 consisted of industrial goods and textile raw materials, including electrical equipment, spare parts and components for industrial machinery, as well as carded yarn.
