India and China agree to resume direct flights

India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met with China's Foreign Secretary and Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong in Beijing. The parties agreed to resume direct flights between the countries, reports the press service of the India's Ministry of External Affairs.

It is noted that for the implementation of this decision in the near future will be held a meeting of relevant specialists.

In addition, Sun Weidong and Vikram Misri reached an agreement on taking measures to facilitate exchanges between citizens of the two countries, including journalists and representatives of think tanks.

The year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China. The two sides recognised that this would be a good opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and a number of joint thematic events are planned in this regard.

India's Foreign Secretary also held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, reports CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS. At the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister emphasised that strengthening cooperation between Beijing and New Delhi is in the interests of both countries and contributes to strengthening the position of states in the Global South.

In turn, Vikram Misri reiterated India's readiness to support China as the chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in 2025.
