Indonesia to build 63,000 charging stations for electric vehicles by 2030

Indonesia's leadership plans to build 63,000 charging stations for electric cars by 2030, which will contribute to the development of environmentally friendly transport in the country. According to forecasts, the number of such cars will reach 943 thousand units by that time, as reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, citing the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic.

It is noted that there are now more than 3.2 thousand charging stations in Indonesia. Large-scale development of this network will help reduce the country's dependence on imported fuel and accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources.

The agency writes that today Indonesia on average consumes about 1.4 million barrels of oil per day. The introduction of new charging stations will allow the country to reduce the daily figure by 66 thousand barrels.

In addition to fuel savings, authorities expect the rise of electric vehicles to help reduce CO2 emissions by 1 million tonnes per year.
