Iran and Eurasian Economic Union sign three-year roadmap to boost free trade cooperation

Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have signed a set of new agreements, including a three-year roadmap for cooperation in implementing the free trade agreement, during the first joint committee meeting in Moscow. This is reported by Alalam News Network, a partner of TV BRICS.

The roadmap outlines priority areas such as transport, logistics, customs digitalisation, and the North–South corridor, seen as a vital trade route linking Eurasia with the Indian Ocean. Both sides agreed to establish “green customs corridors”, expand electronic transport systems, and facilitate the movement of refrigerated goods under the Eurasia Agro Express project.

Discussions also focused on port cooperation, infrastructure alignment, and access for EAEU member states to Iranian ports.

Additional agreements include the mutual issuance of halal certificates, work on removing technical barriers to trade, and the creation of an electronic system to confirm the origin of goods. Iran is also expected to participate as an observer in the EAEU’s pharmaceutical committee, with joint consultations planned on improving access to medical equipment and devices.

The two sides further agreed to establish a customs cooperation subcommittee and to coordinate measures on sanitary and phytosanitary standards affecting agricultural trade, as reported by the source.

The roadmap, covering 2025–2028, was signed by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Mohammad Atabak and EAEU Minister in charge of Trade Andrey Slepnev.
