Iran introduces advanced cold plasma therapy for treating chronic wounds
The country's largest clinic using ionised plasma to heal complex wounds has opened in Isfahan
Iran has officially opened its largest clinic for the treatment of chronic wounds, using innovative cold plasma technology. The centre, located in the city of Isfahan, will become the country's flagship institution in the field of advanced wound healing methods.
According to the Pars Today, Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran, noted that cold plasma technology, developed and implemented by Iranian specialists, has proven highly effective in treating complex and long-term non-healing wounds, from diabetic ulcers to infectious skin lesions.
Cold plasma is an ionised gas that acts without heating tissues, destroys pathogenic microorganisms and accelerates cell regeneration. This technique is recognised as one of the most promising in modern medicine and is available only to a limited number of countries.
At present, the equipment has been installed in nine hospitals in Iran, four of which have already begun operating. Five more specialised departments are expected to be commissioned in the near future.
