Iran produces medical polyurethane foam with exports to Russia and Oman

A pioneering knowledge-based company in Iran has successfully produced polyurethane foam for medical use, specifically for managing wound exudates. This is the first time such a product has been manufactured in the country, as reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The CEO of the company expressed that this innovation is crucial for achieving self-sufficiency in medical equipment, and it is a result of localising modern technologies through the expertise of Iranian specialists.

Previously, Iranian healthcare facilities were highly dependent on imported wound care foams, which not only increased the cost of treatment but also limited access to these vital products for many patients. Now, with the domestic production of this foam, the company aims to reduce treatment costs and improve availability, particularly for chronic patients and those dealing with complex wounds. 

In terms of exports, the company has already established a presence in regional markets, including Iraq, Oman, Pakistan,and Afghanistan, as well as in Russia. The company hopes to expand its reach to Southeast Asia and Africa, attracting new partners and representatives to tap into these emerging markets.
