Iran’s car exports reach over US$2 million in six-month period

In 2024, Iran exported cars worth just over US$2 million to five countries. According to customs data, Iranian-made cars were exported to five countries during the first half of the Iranian calendar year, which began in March. This is reported by Press TV, a partner of TV BRICS.

Between March 21 and September 21, Iran exported vehicles worth approximately US$2.054 million. The data, sourced from Iran’s customs office, highlighted that Iranian cars were shipped to customers in Belarus, Turkey, China, and several special economic zones.

The statistics cover only fully built cars registered with Iran’s custom. This export growth comes as Iranian automakers have expanded their production capabilities by establishing factories in various countries for local assembly or the manufacturing of jointly developed models with foreign companies.

In recent years, Iran has increasingly relied on its domestic automotive sector despite sanctions that have restricted access to foreign technologies. A government ban on car imports has significantly boosted local production and export levels.

In July, Iran’s Ministry of Industry announced that the country’s car production is expected to reach 1.7 million units in the current calendar year, up from 1.335 million cars produced in the previous year.
