Iranian official underlines potential of BRICS cooperation

Abolfazl Zahravand, an Iranian diplomat, said Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and BRICS should enter an operational phase.

In an interview with Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, Zahravand stressed the importance of strengthening economic cooperation with neighbouring countries, noting that strengthening ties with these states and border markets is crucial for economic development. 

He emphasised that this should be a top priority for the Iranian government.

Zahravand said that with Iran's inclusion in the SCO and BRICS, it is crucial for the country to make use of the potential of these groups.

He also stressed that Iran needs to utilise the potentials of all countries and strengthen its international relations. He also spoke about the importance of developing ties with African and Latin American countries.
