Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has announced plans to boost innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and startup development, setting a target of US$1 billion in IT exports by 2025. 

The new initiatives aim to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and position Kazakhstan as Central Asia’s leading technology hub, reports BERNAMA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of a tech forum in Astana, Bektenov emphasised government support for AI specialists, entrepreneurs, and the expansion of digital infrastructure. He noted that Kazakhstan now ranks 24th worldwide in e-government and 10th in online public services, reflecting its rapid digital progress. 

The prime minister highlighted key initiatives, including a new AI research and startup acceleration centre, as well as a hub offering funding opportunities and access to global markets for technology startups.

Also the newly established Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development will take the lead in shaping policy and regulation, he stressed.

Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has announced plans to boost innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and startup development, setting a target of US$1 billion in IT exports by 2025.
