Egypt has become one of the ten most popular destinations for travellers from Uzbekistan, according to Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Egypt, Mansurbek Kilichev. He noted that approximately 26,000 Uzbek tourists visited Egypt during the first half of 2026, citing official Uzbek statistics. This was reported by MENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

The ambassador emphasised that Uzbekistan's visitors are attracted not only by Egypt's coastal resorts but also by the country's rich cultural and historical heritage.

Kilichev noted that Uzbek tourists particularly appreciate Egypt's hospitality and frequently visit world-renowned landmarks, including the Pyramids of Giza and the city of Luxor. He added that the continued growth in tourist numbers has been supported by the strong dialogue between the leadership of the two countries, which has contributed to facilitating travel.

The ambassador also highlighted the role of expanding air connectivity in boosting tourism. Direct and charter flights now link Tashkent with Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada, making travel between the two countries more accessible and supporting further growth in visitor numbers.

According to Kilichev, the number of Uzbek tourists visiting Egypt is expected to continue increasing by the end of 2026. He stressed that tourism serves as an important platform for cultural exchange and creates additional opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation and people-to-people ties between Uzbekistan and Egypt.
