Moscow hosts anniversary International Cadet Ball with participants from 63 countries

More than 3,000 cadets and foreign students danced together in Gostiny Dvor

The tenth International Charity Cadet Ball took place in Moscow. The large-scale event at Gostiny Dvor brought together 3.4 thousand young women and men, including representatives of 63 foreign states, among them India, Brazil, Egypt, Iran, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and countries of Africa.

The event traditionally serves the goals of reviving historical and cultural traditions and strengthening international ties. The Ball is held with the support of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

“I am confident that [the Ball] will continue to serve the strengthening of the cadet fraternity, the preservation of our national and historical traditions, and the upbringing of young people in the high ideals of honour, loyalty and nobility,” the President noted in a letter addressed to the participants.

The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, emphasised the international format of the event.

"All types of cadet educational institutions are represented, but such an opportunity exists not only in our country. […] More than 60 countries are taking part this year and have the same opportunity provided to them by our country: to see what a genuine classical ball is in our national traditions"

Among the guests were the best students of the cadet corps, cadets of departmental universities, as well as numerous delegations from abroad. For many foreign students, the Ball became their first experience of immersing themselves in the world of classical ballroom culture.

Gaudensia Mdolo, a student of RUDN University from Zambia, in an exclusive comment to TV BRICS, noted the presence of a large number of participants from different countries. She added that she had been to other balls before, but this one stands out for its special atmosphere.

“It's very interesting, and I'm very happy to be here. We are so excited,” the student said.

A student from Nigeria, Osayogie Godswill, also shared his impressions: “I am really happy. It is a really fun experience. […] I've loved dancing since I was a kid, though I've not been practising enough. So it was an interesting experience for me to be able to engage in this ceremony."

The programme of the anniversary Ball included not only dances but also performances by well-known artists, as well as a rich cultural programme for the guests of the capital.

The International Kremlin Charity Cadet Ball has been held since 2016. It was conceived as a unique platform for strengthening generational continuity, maintaining historical and cultural traditions, and developing friendly international ties through youth dialogue and joint creativity. The event annually gathers thousands of participants from Russia and dozens of countries around the world.
