Quality Council of India and Union Health Ministry sign co-operation agreement

As part of a strategic agreement between the Quality Council of India and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, plans have been announced to collaborate to improve the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) system in India.

The partnership aims to improve CGHS through an integrated approach covering several key areas. In particular, there will be a focus on improving the quality of services through systematic interventions.

The agreement recognises the importance of technology for task implementation and envisages a plan to collaborate on additional initiatives aimed at developing the CGHS ecosystem. The need for quality assurance of medicines and warehouses, modernising procurement and inventory management systems, and improving infrastructure and processes are highlighted.

An important aspect of the partnership will be the establishment of quality monitoring mechanisms. Third-party audits and CGHS review initiatives are planned to expand the network of quality health facilities and laboratories. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

Leaders from both parties expressed confidence that this collaboration will bring about qualitative changes in CGHS, making the programme a model for other areas of health care in India. The plan is to implement a comprehensive transformation plan based on experience and quality improvement methodology.

This collaboration is designed to improve beneficiary confidence in CGHS by improving service quality and system efficiency. The partnership is focused on building a sustainable healthcare system that is able to adapt to changing demands and ensure active participation of patients in their care.
