Russian scientists create test for 25 viruses

Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) specialists have presented a new development – a test system capable of detecting 25 viral infections at once, including various strains of influenza and coronavirus. This is the first test registered in Russia with such a wide range of diagnostics, according to the service's website.

The innovative system covers all key pathogens of acute respiratory viral infections: enteroviruses, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, metapneumovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, bocavirus, and others. This approach allows doctors to significantly speed up diagnosis and select the most effective treatment.

The developers emphasise that all components of the test are manufactured in Russia. This reduces dependence on imports and makes diagnostics more accessible to Russian patients.

As noted in the press release, the introduction of such solutions is especially important during periods of seasonal increases in ARVI and influenza incidence. Rapid detection of infections contributes to strengthening the epidemiological safety of the country.
