Egypt plans to double engineering exports from US$6.5 billion in 2025 to US$13 billion by 2030
One of the key priorities will be finding new export markets, particularly in Africa and South America
Egypt plans to increase its engineering industry exports from US$6.5 billion in 2025 to US$13 billion by 2030. To achieve this goal, the Egypt Export Development Fund, together with the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, has developed a roadmap aimed at strengthening support for manufacturers, improving their competitiveness and expanding their presence in international markets, reports Sada El-Balad, a TV BRICS partner.
The document provides for the modernisation of the state support system for exporters. In addition to financial incentives, manufacturers will receive assistance in preparing to enter foreign markets, implementing international standards and expanding production capacity. The plan also includes accelerating the digitalisation of export procedures, simplifying access to government services and improving the efficiency of cooperation with exporters.
Egypt intends to make greater use of the advantages offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the MERCOSUR agreement to increase supplies of engineering products.
In addition, the authorities plan to further integrate Egyptian enterprises into global supply chains, develop local production of components and increase the share of high value-added products. These measures are expected to strengthen the position of the national industry and improve its competitiveness in the global market.
Sherif El-Sayyad, Head of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, noted that achieving the target for engineering export growth would become part of a broader government strategy to increase Egypt’s total exports to US$100 billion by 2030.
