Saudi Arabia launches its first sign language training programme for flight attendants
Saudi Arabia is taking a big step towards making air travel more accessible to people with hearing impairments
Developed in bilateral cooperation with the Saudi Association for Hearing Impairment, the programme is designed to enable flight attendants to communicate effectively with hearing-impaired passengers. This is reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The training covers all stages of the flight, from boarding and greeting to on-board service, including safety instructions and goodbyes.
This is not the first initiative in the Kingdom to make services more accessible to people with special needs. Previously, programmes have been implemented to train airport staff and flight attendants to work with passengers with autism spectrum disorders.
