Special feature of the first Voronezh International Animation Festival to be its workshop format
Applications to the first Voronezh International Animation Festival, which will be held in the city from 19 to 21 May, 2023, are now closed. It is a show of professional domestic and world animated films for audiences of all ages.
A special feature of the upcoming cultural event will be its workshop format, which will include not only animated film screenings, but also master classes, round tables and creative meetings for a wide audience. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Voronezh Oblast Government. TV BRICS is the information partner of the event.
For participation in the Festival were accepted full-length and short animated films and animation series. The competition programme will feature Russian and foreign animated films created not earlier than 1 January 2021.
"We received more than 800 animated films from 78 countries, including China, India, Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, Israel, Serbia and Belarus. Besides works from professional animation studios, student works were also submitted, so we decided to add the Best Student Work nomination," said Vladimir Nikolaev, festival director.
"We would like to further emphasise the practical orientation of our festival, the programme of which will be of interest to both ordinary viewers and aspiring animators and other representatives of the creative industries. They will be interested in the applied knowledge shared by recognised professionals in the animation industry at our master classes and creative meetings. Entrance to the screenings and workshops will be free by pre-registration," he added.
The number of applications submitted shows the interest in the festival both at home and abroad.
"Now, we can already say that the children's screenings will mostly consist of Russian films, while the sessions for teenage and adult audiences will include more foreign animated films. This is because animated films made abroad are mainly for adult audiences, and they produce fewer animated films for children, which will reflect current trends in animation worldwide," says Alyona Sycheva, programme director of the festival.
The jury will consist of Russian and foreign professionals and representatives of the animation industry.
