Students from different countries present social projects at the MediaGame festival in Russia

This year the event acquired international status for the first time

The Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) hosted the "MediaGame" International Student Festival of Social Projects organised by the Faculty of Advertising and Public Relations with the support of the university's Department of Youth Policy. For the first time this year, international students from Belarus, Vietnam, and other countries, presented their works at the event. TV BRICS acted as the official media partner of the festival.

The event was held under the motto "Business Matters". The participants presented more than 480 works in 6 nominations. Among the winning projects were "Happiness in Paws: Give a Home for the New Year" by students of the Plekhanov Russian State University of Economics, "Traces" and "Just Like That" by representatives of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) as well as the St. Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design, "Don't Forget Your Older Relatives" by participants from the State University of Management, "Up – Down" by St. Petersburg University, and "Sober Driver – Safe Road" by Russian State University for the Humanities. In the category "Complex social project" three works by students of the State University of Management took the first place: "Cyber safe", "Violation of women's labour rights on the basis of gender", and "Find your place".

Olga Makusheva, Director of the "MediaGame" Festival Organising Board, Associate Professor of the Department of Integrated Communications and Advertising at RSUH, told TV BRICS in an exclusive commentary about the criteria for evaluating the contest projects.

"Idea, creativity, and realisation – a universal set of requirements that allows us to give a comprehensive objective assessment of the work. Both the technical task and the emotional component – how the heart sees the problem and visualises it – were taken into account," Makusheva shared.

In turn, a participant from Vietnam, Chiong Thi Thu Shiong, in her conversation with the international media network, noted that the festival provided her with an opportunity to learn more about topical issues concerning her country.

"As I started working on my project, I delved deeper into researching various social issues in my city. This process not only broadened my knowledge, but also helped me look at the world through different eyes. I realised how important it is to be aware and look for solutions to the challenges that society faces. ‘MediaGame' became not just a competition for me, but a valuable experience that inspired me to further study media and social processes," she said.

The festival participants were able not only to demonstrate their works, but also to take part in interactive sessions and master classes from leading experts in the media sphere, including representatives of charity organisations, specialists in neurolinguistics, and media communications.

Anna Lisina, Editor-in-Chief of the TV BRICS portal, also gave a master class. She introduced the audience to the traditions of the BRICS countries in the language of media, and also told what the international media network deals, what types of content it produces and how it builds its work with international partners from more than 20 countries.

"We cooperate with national and regional TV channels and news agencies, providing them with news and analytical materials in six languages: Russian, English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic. This multi-lingual cooperation expands the geography of our audience. The partners receive exclusive text and video content, place these materials on their resources, and thus articles, stories and programmes produced by TV BRICS become available to readers and viewers in various countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America"

In addition, the students learnt how to create social initiatives and promote them using modern media platforms, including social networks. At the end of the competition, the winners were awarded.

"MediaGame" is an international student festival of social projects, which united over 400 participants this year.
