Thailand aims to become regional leader in clean energy
Thailand is determined to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and zero emissions by 2065
The Board of Investment of Thailand (BoI) is actively encouraging investment in the clean energy sector.
Over the past decade, more than 2,900 projects totalling more than 560 billion Thai baht (US$16.79 billion) have been implemented. Ths is reported by Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS.
BoI Secretary-General Narit Therdsteerasukdi, said there are 28 electric vehicle projects by 22 companies. The total investment in this industry is about 78 billion baht and the total production capacity is more than 880,000 units.
Currently, clean energy accounts for 26 per cent of Thailand's power generation capacity. According to the SDG Index 2023, the country ranks 43rd in the world and 1st in ASEAN in clean energy progress.
