Trade between Russia and China grows by more than 40% by the end of April
China's General Administration of Customs has published data on trade with Russia. According to them, there has been a significant increase in the volume of goods exported by the two countries.
Trade between the Russian Federation and the PRC between January and April 2023 increased by 41.3% to $73.15 billion.
During this period, China imported $33.69 billion worth of goods to its northern neighbour, up 67.2% from January to April 2022, while shipments from Russia to the Middle Kingdom rose 24.8% to $39.46 billion. Trade between the two countries reached $19.23 billion in April, with the Russian Federation exporting $9.61 billion worth of goods to China.
By the end of 2022, trade between the two countries had increased by 29.3% to a record $190.27 billion.
After talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on 4 February 2022, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Chinese leader has set a new goal to increase trade between the two countries - $250 billion a year, as reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
