UNICEF Representative and Ethiopian Minister of Health meet in Addis Ababa
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has reaffirmed its commitment to provide the necessary support to improve the health infrastructure in Ethiopia.
The announcement was made during a meeting between UNICEF representative, Aboubacar Kampo, and the Minister of Health of Ethiopia, Mekdes Daba, in Addis Ababa.
The discussion centred on strengthening the health system, especially in remote areas, to combat various challenges such as disease outbreaks and others. This is reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
The two sides discussed improving health, water, sanitation, nutrition and child protection programmes.
Minister Daba thanked UNICEF for its support and expressed his ministry's willingness to co-operate. For his part, UNICEF representative, Campo, expressed the organisation's intention to increase support for Ethiopia through awareness raising, provision of medicines and financial assistance.
They also discussed the training of medical staff and the development of local production of vaccines and other medical products.
