Ethiopia's role in BRICS
By joining BRICS, Ethiopia has gained access to the markets of the member countries, which should increase its export opportunities. For instance, this African state is ready to supply coffee, flowers and other agricultural products to the Russian market. Some Indian and Chinese companies have expressed interest in investing in Ethiopia's telecoms technology and infrastructure. This, according to some experts, could help it diversify its economy.
Ethiopia's industry
Main industries: mining, manufacturing, food processing, the leather industry. The agriculture provides about 50% of GDP.
Ethiopian culture
Ethiopia is a distinctive culture with roots dating back to ancient times. This includes traditional styles of dance (over 150 of them!) and, of course, music. The national musical instruments of this country are: masenqo, krar, atama, begena, dita.
Ethiopia in international organisations
The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is a member of the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU).
The African state is also famous for its unique architecture: ancient temples, palaces, castles. Travellers from BRICS countries (and indeed from all over the world) definitely have a lot to catch with their photo or video camera!
