Brazil’s offshore fields' production accounts 97.6% of the country's total output
In September 2024, oil and natural gas production in Brazil's region reached an all-time high, totalling 3.681 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). This marks a 6.3 per cent increase from the previous month and a 2.4 per cent rise compared to September 2023, according to data released by the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP). The Pre-Salt region accounted for 81.2 per cent of Brazil's total production, marking its highest share to date.
According to the statistics, Brazil's national oil production reached 3.47 million barrels per day, showing a 3.9 per cent growth from the previous month. This is reported by Brazil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
Natural gas production also set a new record, reaching 169.92 million cubic meters per day. This volume represents a 6.4 per cent increase from August 2024 and a 7.6 per cent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
The data reveal that offshore fields contributed 97.6 per cent of oil production and 83.6 per cent of natural gas production. Production came from 6,428 wells, of which 495 were offshore and 5,933 onshore, underscoring the importance of offshore operations to Brazil's energy sector.
These figures reflect the ongoing expansion and strategic importance of the Pre-Salt region within Brazil's energy matrix, consolidating the country's position as a key global player in oil and natural gas production.
