Indonesia and Russia sign intellectual property cooperation agreement
The new partnership will support innovation, enhance intellectual property protection and expand international cooperation between the two countries
Indonesia's Ministry of Law and Russia's intellectual property authority, Rospatent, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP). The agreement is expected to reinforce Indonesia's national IP ecosystem while creating new opportunities for innovators and supporting international collaboration, reports ANTARA.
Hermansyah Siregar, Director General of Intellectual Property at Indonesia's Ministry of Law, said the MoU reflects the country's commitment to expanding international partnerships to improve the protection and use of intellectual property. According to him, the cooperation will contribute to capacity building, technological development and broader international opportunities for Indonesian innovations.
The signed agreement provides a framework for cooperation in areas including digital data utilisation, patent analysis, intellectual property valuation, information exchange and the possible implementation of a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) to accelerate patent examination procedures. The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation on the protection of geographical indications by exchanging experience and best practices.
Indonesia and Russia will continue working together within the framework of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), including support for initiatives related to copyright and the development of multilingual systems for international registrations. As part of the next stage of cooperation, Indonesia has been invited to participate in a project on intellectual property valuation under the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP), while Russia has been invited to attend the Global Forum on Cross-border Copyright Royalty Governance, scheduled to take place in Bali in October.
BRICS and partner nations, as well as countries around the world, are continuing to strengthen bilateral cooperation through new agreements that promote cultural exchange, knowledge sharing and closer collaboration across key sectors, supporting long-term regional development.
Belarus and Russia have signed a cooperation agreement to advance the digitalisation of healthcare, as reported by BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS. The agreement was concluded between Belarus’ Digital Transformation Agency and Russia’s Central Research Institute for Healthcare Organisation and Informatics. It provides a framework for joint work on harmonising healthcare standards and reference information, implementing bilateral digital projects, and expanding cooperation in research and expert initiatives. The partnership is expected to support the development of interoperable digital healthcare systems and strengthen technological cooperation between the two countries.
Malaysia and Uzbekistan are strengthening cooperation in agriculture and food security by expanding collaboration in smart farming, aquaculture, agricultural research and sustainable technologies. The two countries are also increasing the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence to improve productivity and resilience in the agricultural sector. According to BERNAMA, a partner of TV BRICS, Uzbekistan is working with the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) on agricultural innovation and plans to expand the use and domestic assembly of agricultural drones. Bilateral trade in agricultural and food products exceeded about US$83 million in 2025, and both countries see significant potential to further increase trade in the sector over the coming years.
Vietnam and Laos have agreed to expand cooperation in culture and tourism for the 2026–2030 period following talks between the two countries’ culture ministers in Vientiane. The new cooperation programme focuses on strengthening cultural exchanges, heritage preservation, tourism development, workforce training, and collaboration between museums, libraries and educational institutions. According to Vietnam News Agency (VNA), a partner of TV BRICS, the agreement builds on the successful implementation of joint initiatives during 2021–2025 and aims to further reinforce the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries through cultural events, knowledge sharing and people-to-people exchanges.
